Pittsfield NH is a small town about 30 minutes from Concord. Simply travel North on Route 28...you can't miss it!
Every August the town celebrates its biggest event. Pittsfield's Hot Air Balloon Festival draws people from all over the region. It is a very large rally that also has rides, food vendors, crafts and Fireworks. And, depending on the weather...you may be able to take a ride (tethered of course) and there could also be hellicopter rides!
The biggest gamble is the weather. The balloons take quite a long time to inflate so everyone hopes for a calm and sunny day.The launches are usually planned for very early AM or late afternoon when the air currents are calmer.
If you are in the area...be sure to attend next years Fest....they've already started the planning!
GETTING READY TIME'S A WASTIN

WE"RE ALMOST THERE UP UP AND AWAY

"I love what I do, and it shows in how I do it"

Hot air balloons have always been intriguing. I won't talk about how fun it would be to take a trip that includes one...I need to take the trip first! <<<smile>>>
Joni, What a shame the weather didn't cooperate, I'm sure many people looked forward to this. I did this once---in Arizona and it is SO much fun! Until we landed on top of a tree :)
Rich...I would love to do this myself. People say it is soooo peaceful and you have no sensation of moving!
Hi Carole...oh I am envious! How did you get off of the tree?
Joni - hot air balloon rides are a real treat! I was scared to death for about 5 minutes, then it was glorious! I hope you get the chance to go in one. You will love it!
Oh I know I would love it Carol...I love being at the top of tall buildings and up in a plane and looking at all the little stuff below!
Joan, I love balloon festivals. They do usually soar early morning and at dusk. Very colorful events. Glad Pittsfield has this one for you, even though from years ago.
Joan, I love this post and especially the Song. I have been thinking about you and hope you are having a great selling season. As for the balloons, we see them here daily but your fresh description and even the excitement in the way you express you it, makes it all very special to me.
I can't believe the weather we have been having (not GOOD!) Just too much rain for me! I think I am a duck -- quack!
Carol,
I know that must be a beautiful sight when those hot air balloons are in the sky. Unlike William, it is not something we see here.
Hi Gary...They certainly are a beautiful sight! With the price of gas....we probably all should invest in one :-)
Hi William I've been a little busy but mostly un-organized!...Just can't seem to get myself on track!
Hi Joan....I hear ya! But this week is supposed to be decent...we can hope!
Hi Cynthia...I guess everything is "usual" in California...or it wouldn't be California :-)
Nice photo's Joan. I love to see hot air balloons in the sky, though I don't think I could ever take a ride. The fear of heights is something I haven't overcome.
You can send some of that rain to Virginia!!!
Hi Joan... I say that you and I should go hot air ballooning together to celebrate our first referral of business! How about it? :)
Hi Joan
Just got back from NH- rained for almost the whole week. Bought a great piece atthe Concord Auction though...
Debbie...you are welcome to it! At least it isn't snow!
That would be a blast wouldn't it Steve!
They only have a few weeks to go!
Alison...this hasn't been the Summer for vacationing in NH...it's been dismal. I think this week is going to be the best of the Summer.
Glad you had some fun!
