Don't Despair~Do Credit Repair!!

hopefull Anyone who has sought a loan recently, whether it be for a home, car or new business etc., knows how important Credit Score has become. It is now, arguably, the primary indicator of whether you get your desired loan and how much you pay for it!

People's credit score are affected by many outside influences....job loss, unexpected emergencys, health care and prescription costs. Gasoline and heating/cooling costs can all affect ones ability to pay....a major factor influencing a Credit Score.

If your Credit Score is responsible for holding you back....here are some steps you can take to repair it. Repairs won't happen overnite and there's no easy fix...but it can be done!

#1- Pull your credit report and check it for accuracy. Everyone is entitled to one FREE! Any incorrect information needs to be corrected, in writing, with all three Reporting Agencys (Experian, Eqifax, TransUnion )

#2- Work out a Budget to pinpoint where your money is being spent and where you can cut back.

#3- Seek help from a Credit Counseling Service (in Concord- Consumer Credit Counseling Service) It should be:           meeting

  1. a non-profit, run by trustees
  2. certified counselors, not paid on a commission and licensed according to State Law
  3. shouldn't have to pay a large amount "upfront"
  4. size of debt shouldn't be a qualification

#4- Pay your bills on time. A consistant pattern of timely payments will repair your credit the fastest

Hi Joan, Good post and great information. Simple , concise and easy to follow. That is the lesson I am trying to learn. I have just become too verbose. :-) I figured out that the comments I wrote yesterday alone would  have filled 10 posts, longer than the average post size. And then I struggle to get them on and edited. Will I ever learn?

Joan, I have worked with several of the credit counseling companies with couples and if you find the good companies they are invaluable in helping people get back on their feet and improve their scores.

Judy...I think people are just starting to realize just how important it has become! Thanks for visiting!

William...I just took a DISC test as part of a way to determine different "interactive styles and stregnths" My whole board took it and then we discussed the results(with a facilitator).

The way I approach situations and verbalize is "my style" so it is natural for me to not only filter information on the intake...but to also put it out there with no frills...when I write poetry that is also how I write. This was so facinating!

So they way you write is obviously your style..so don't try to change it...it's you! You just want to be sure you don't leave anything out!(organized and detail oriented)

Gary...I haven't been in that situation yet but getting info for this post helped me get a lead on a good one!

Joan, This is great information to pass along.  I check my credit report each year but I know some people who never do....it's good to know what your score is and what you can do about it.

Hi Joni,
Many people need to hear and follow this advice.  I think financial planning needs to be taught in school, what affects people's lives more?

Hi Carole...I don't understand why people don't take advantage of the freebie! Then they are surprised when they can't get a loan...go figure!

Cynthia...you're back! I agree but then again they don't teach many life skills these days in school....maybe that's why the work force is shrinking!

Thanks for you for taking the time to comment on this subject in the Active Rain network.  AR is the new "cyber backbone" of the industry, and with it's uplink to Localism.com it is transforming the real estate marketplace. Agents who don't see which way the cyberwind is blowing are going to find themselves at a considerable disadvantage inside of three to five years.
