This is What It's All About
There's all sorts of buzz these days about people and groups who are opposed to the Mortgage Lending Housing Bailout.
A new web site called AngryRenter was initiated under the guise of a "grass roots" effort by ordinary people! There is an online peteition to Congress protesting the bailout and the comments section is overflowing with angry people who feel they are being cheated by the Governments' proposal.
Well....according to Source Watch (a watchdog group sort of like Snopes), Angry Renters is a Front for Freedom Works and was initiated as a lobbying effort by Dick Armey.
The definition of a Front Group is: A front group is an organization that purports to represent one agenda while in reality it serves some other party or interest whose sponsorship is hidden or rarely mentioned. The front group is perhaps the most easily recognized use of the third party technique.
It's not Grass Roots....it's Astro Turf More Washington Magic at work!

"I love what I do, and it shows in how I do it"

Hey lady, you want me to mow this blog with a $54,000 government-issued highly classified weed whacker? Everyone comes armed with an agenda. And we're surprised our children grow up jaded?
Andrew...You are so funny (and right on point) however, I actually think people are becoming fed up with it...it just can't be overlooked any more!
I know that I'm getting sick of it of it all! Why is it that they can bail JP Morgan out, but not the little guy? This whole mess was created by Wall Street, but that is the only ones who this administration seems to be willing to help!
If we don't bail these borrowers out, the market will recover....it's just more of a question as to how long it will take and how much we all will have to suffer!

Oh, I thought I was going to read about a way to cut down on my yard work. :) We have so many grass root groups being started by industry or politicians with an agenda pretending to be the common people. It is not surprising anymore, but I wish that this practice would be made illegal.
You're right Bob...it would recover eventually...with only the wealthiest still standing! They are the only ones who can affrd a hold out!
The banks need to work with the homeowner and not look for me to bail them out. Extend the terms lower the payment and suck it up. Don't look to me to pay more my taxes are already chocking the c_____ out of me!!!
I definately agree Frank...We are required to uphold the policy of full disclosure...why shouldn't the people who have control of our country be held to the same standards?
Barry...in an ideal world, that would be an ideal situation. But we know this isn't an ideal world. Far from it!
No! Say it isn't so!! I'm so disillusioned now! I can't go on!
And we wonder why there is no trust/faith in our government...
BTW - "I'm from the government and I'm here to help you." NOT necessarily
Love it!!! You keep 'em honest, sweet lady!! Good to be home!! GBU!
Carol...it really is something isn't it..the corruption is rampant and we are all becoming so jaded we won't believe the truth when we see it!
Elizabeth...it's great to see you back!
Those little rascals, it doesn't surprise me at all. I am mostly opposed to the bailout as it is stated because it sets a bad precedent, not because one might not be needed. If they would be willing to admit that the laws to do this should be sunsetted at a certain date if it works and voided if it doesn't help, I would be more inclined to go all with some of it. I don't like the bankruptcy part either. A lawyer client of mine explained it and as explained it could mess up way more than it fixes. Somehow Congress is not the place one thinks of when it comes handle economic issues. That is because they can never say no to its out of control spending. Being a moderate here, there surely must be better answers than new laws to cover still to be determined bad behaviors by many.
William...So many diversions and smoke screens...wouldn't some transparency be a real treat?
Joan, I smell a conspiracy theory here. Dick Armey was our local congressman here, and former University of North Texas professor. Don't know what to make of him these days. Kind of like Dick Cheney, used to like the guy but I think Washington warps people eventually.
Incredible. It is sort of like the pac groups that have one name, but they stand for exactly the opposite. It is very difficult to find the truth these days.
Gary...I think you hit the nail on the head...Washington warps people and it especially warps their perspectives!
Joan ...I just hope we haven't gotten to the point of no return!
Uh, FreedomWorks is listed on every page of the petition site and in the About Us section of AngryRenter.com . Wake up and read the comments on the site! SourceWatch is a smear campaign against an effective and real grassroots movement.
Hello Chris...you are correct. Freedom Works does list their involvement..if one reads far enough. The point was about Armery...as for Source watch they didn't say anything yhea or nay...they just disclosed the source (again...the point)
Ah, those slimy Republican spin doctors are at it again! History repeats itself and the Watergate era is upon us once more.
Not to hijack, but I wrote about the administration's "message force multipliers" injecting paid commentary by GOP shills into the network news. It's being investigated right now.

Hi Eric...yes I remember that Blog because it was all over the news that day...now....nothing? What happened to the big expose'?
I'm sorry i neglected this group for so long and didn't feature this...WOW! That's really crazy....just like the republicans...
This is a problem with Big Media and it's not merely television and radio and newspapers. We're going to see an increasing amount of phony "front" websites like this one as time goes along. The vast majority of the public doesn't check out the source of what they're reading.
I read a post on AR a couple weeks ago by a member who was urging people to sign the "Angry Renters" petition online. Funny, but the whole thing had a bad smell when I heard about it then. Maybe my ESP is working. Or maybe it's my BS detector!
There you go Eric...The subject of a new Post..."How Good Is Your BS Detector" LOL
Ruthmarie...you're forgiven. Life outside of AR can intrude on occasion LOL
WoW Joan.... this is very interesting. Wonder what their real intentions are there
Roland...in my opinion they are lobbying in an effort to change legislation. But they are not doing it front and center, they are using the guise of "public opinion"
It's the unethical practice of manufacturing "news" by hiring shills and creating a phony front for their political goals. They're attempting to make paid lobbying look like a grassroots effort.
Maybe a counter-group like "angry media viewers" would be in order. Or how about "angry middle-class voters being screwed by supply-siders"?
There you go Eric...two more Blogs...and apprently from the scuttlebut I've been reading on here, politics are fair agme!LOL
I like that Angry Media Viewers and that could be pretty bi-partisan. The media is scewing with both sides these days!
