New Hampshire Sunday Morning-#7

   sun

  Sunday Morning on CBS is one of my favorite programs. They always have a series

                  of  interesting stories from around the US, people to see and places to go!

                        I hope to pass on a little of the same........

                                                                   NEW HAMPSHIRE SUNDAY MORNING

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
  Exploring this wonderful State of New Hampshire is something my husband and I never tire of! There are so many diverse attractions and ever-changing landscapes...the possibilities are endless!
 Yesterday was a typical New Hampshire Fall Day...even though it isn't quite Fall! There was bright sun and blue sky's....
  We decided to take a drive to one of our favorite areas of the State. We rationalized our neglect of household chores by determining a serious need for Blogging material!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

  Our destination was the Classic Car Show in Twin Mountain BandstandNew Hampshire!

  We headed North from Concord on Route 93 toward Twin Mountain (Carroll) New Hampshire. As soon as we spotted Franconia Notch Franconia Notchwe knew to take the Rt.3 turnoff in Woodstock! We drove past Clark's Bears and The Flume. We paid a silent sad nod as we passed by where The Old Man of The Mountain used to be.

                                          Soon we spotted the signsign for the show!

  I must admit...I was not prepared for what I saw!... I had no idea trucks came in so many Colors!

Chevy Pickups 1934-1949                        Does this bring back memories?drive in  1956 Ford Fairlane

  Even I (a non-car obsessed person) was impressed with this 1966 Maroon Pontiac Bonneville!Bonneville

 It has 45,000 original miles and has never been restored! Look at that Celluloid Steering Wheel!

Interior

  After pulling myself away from staring at the Bonneville I looked around for my errant husband. I followed the sound of oh's and aw's and found him swooningcorvette. This 1961 Corvette is the same as the one he raced in 1962 at Daytona....ahh Glory Days!

Now I personally was torn between two cars that I felt fit my Realtor Image!

T'Bird  This 1957 T'Bird or.....This Mercedes 380 SL? Personally I think I'll go with the latter!Mercedes

As we were leaving (exhausted from all of the mental spending) we were  listening to the sounds of the Band  playing "Me and Bobby MageeBand" somehow that seemed appropriate!

And as we went back through the parking lot we saw thisGremlin.....1979 Gremlin

How's that for getting back to Reality!

  The day was young so we decided to head a little further to Bethlehem....but I'm saving that till next time!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
  Come travel the roads of New Hampshire . There are wonderful examples of our history around every corner!
Joan, What an awesome day you had !!  My Dad would have loved to have gone along....he's crazy over antique cars.  Lovely pictures you took and I found it very interesting that your hubby used to race corvettes.
I can picture you  in the Mercedes 380 SL.  The colours of some of the old cars and trucks are so pretty...I like the silvery blue colour the best.
thanks for this blog about your Sunday in NH ....I really enjoy this series.
Joan, I was so happy to see it was one of your road trips, I love them!  I also go to old car shows when I can, they are so much fun!  I learned to drive on a car the size of that Bonneville, it's HUGE to me now :)  Thank you for sharing that wonderful post.
You just made me sad that I left my '66 convertible bug in Denver- not quite the classics that you show, but how many cars today have a gas tank under the hood? :)
Boy -- It sounds like you had a lot of fun on that outing.  I was busy catching up on taxes and cleaning carpets -- that doesn't make for an interesting post or for pictures.  Thanks for sharing that bit of your weekend -- I feell like I got away from all those mundane chores for a while.
I always love an excuse to go on a road trip Joan...even if the reason is cars!
Posted by Joan Mirantz- Concord New Hampshire Realtor (Keeler Family Realtors) over 2 years ago
Joan - that looks like a great car show!  And you were in Twin Mountain!!!!  Now I'm REALLY homesick!!  We used to love going through the Notch and on up the mountain.  But then you have to go a little further north to Jefferson Meadow and take a right over into Berlin,Gorham and Conway (Maine).  Some of my best memories are up in that area.  Thanks for 'taking me home' again!
Posted by Carol Smith (Concept Builders/Shamrock Valley) over 2 years ago
Hi Carol...Aww I didn't want to make you homesick!  We did go over to Bethlehem and my next one will be on that area!
If we are able to go again during foliage (and are'nt in Maine) my husband wants to do a loop through Littleton so we are closer...right?
Hi Jay...where have you been...we went right by the Flume and after the car show up to Bethlehem(see #8).
We did see a moose right near the old man entrance...it was huge! I hope to do a foliage trip next weekend...barring customer complications. I'll let you know so you won't miss it!
That is great . It sounds and looks like there was a lot of fun to be had. It is so wonderful to be able to have things to put in the file we call our mind and be able to pull out those memories later and really just remember how lucky we have been.
Hi Gregory, thanks for stopping by! You're right about filing the memories away....but it also helps to have the pictures to prod it along!
