One of the perks, of our recent move, was that our new place had a Doggie Door.
This was fantastic!
No more having to get up from that comfortable chair..... or out of bed early to "let the dogs out".
Tidbit and Dandi had other ideas...
We tried pushing, tempting with snacks, clapping, pleading and cajoling.....to no avail. They wanted no part of it! They wouldn't venture through that little hole with the scarred thick plastic leading to... who knows where?
We cleverly decided to replace the plastic with screening.
Observations:
Dandi...led with his foot "feeling out" what lies ahead. (But his claws got caught.)
Tidbit...led with her nose so she could see before she went. (But her sight is failing and she couldn't see the screen.)
~~~~~~~~~~~~
Now..... how about you?
How do you approach the "doggie door" of new technology? Do you do Newsletters, Twitter, Text, do Social Networking Sites? Do you add the Widgets, check the Stats and Link the Links?
Or......
Are you a Dandi feeling it out....(but pulling back because it's "uncomfortable"?)
Or a Tidbit....not even venturing out...(because you can't "see" the value?)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Solution:
We edged the screening with bight red duct tape. It slid over Dandi's paws and attracted Tidbits eye!

What's your Solution?
Are you a Dandi or a Tidbit???

I love the analogy! What a cute post!
Thanks Christianne...glad youn enjoyed it!
Hi Joan, What a pleasure to have you back bringing your new ideas and perspatives to share. You have been missed.
Now this is an interesting take on the technology subject. I think I tend to be the one running through the door only to discover that most of the directions were bypassed along the way, leaving me to have to figure things out the hard way,lol. Intuition is not always the best way to approach this subject and it causes me some real consternation from time to time. But excited I am and always ready to charge through the door. I hope one day there isn't a cliff on the other side, LMAO. O___O______H______N_____O____0_oooooooooooo! Ooops!
Joni, I am a Tidbit...named after a little dog I had before my newest members. The name fit him...and I think it fits me too when it comes to social networking :)
I jump in.. but then realize there is more behind that door than I ever anticipated... so then I have to go back in an start again... I think the technology is fun and has so many possibilities... it is just a matter of finding time to learn it all.
Joni - this is adorable. You certainly have a way with words, my friend. I think I am a ..... let me think ..... oh, ok ..... I'm a "Jet". She just blazes through and decides if she likes the journey about half way through. LOL (Remember ... Jet is our Black Lab)
Sometimes we will never know the wonders of the world if we don't stick our head out the window of life!
Hi Joni... I just go charging through the door and into the unknown. LOL Not really, actually, I am so methodical that I would have to do some online research regarding what was beyond the doggie door before I would venture through.
William....how did I know you would say that! Every time you post you're talking about the latest new technology or gadget!I'm more like my Dandi...willing to stick my foot in and give it a try. But if I don't like it!! That's that.
Carole...I can see the Tidbit side of you...I remember the angst when you were going to teach that class!
Joan...read my answer to William....see why we get along!!! It isn't just the name (or the politics lol!)
No surprises there Carol...you definately are a leap first girl....but look at all the experiences you've had because of it!!
AhHa Steve....the second part of your answer was the part I would have guessed....you are soooo organised and reaserch oriented goes right along with that...for sure!
hi Joan,
They're adorable....you're a genius to think of red tape edging. Do you ever worry about skunks coming in?
Jo
Hi Jo....I will admit it has crossed my mond, but the yard itself is fenced so that lowers the odds!LOL
Joni, maybe if some of the new technologies & portals were lined with red duct tape, we would feel more comfortable in trying them out!
Brian...hmmm maybe you're on to something! But I bet we'd react better to green!!
first, i tried thinking like a dog, but i couldn't get that to work.
cha, cha, cha, changes (a little david bowie)
we all deal with them differently, don't we?
OMG....you have dropped out of sight for so long I figured you had moved on to another company or something!

Mike in Tucson
So are you! :0)
Joan, like my dog, I'd probably ignore the doggie door until someone SHOVED me through it! Not good...
Laurie...
Now that we've got them hooked on the doggie door it's too cold to leave the poarch slider open so they have to ask again....sighhhh
