Reach Out And Touch Someone

 I have just met a delightful couple!

They are recently local and looking to purchase a home in Concord NH.

We have had our introductions and are setting up our "list" and showing schedule. They have been doing the obligatory drivebys and are already getting a feel for Concord. We are all eager to "get the party started".

This particular couple are special. First of all they are related to fellow Steve AR Texas  Realtor Steve Shatsky (they are cousins) Secondly, he referred them to me and I am flattered by his confidence. I will not let him down!

As an added bonus....Steve is coming to visit his cousins this month so I get to meet another AR Blogging Agent.

Keep your eyes open for insights into the "Real Steve Shatsky" (including pictures)...and updates on the cousins till we find their dream home!

Help a fellow AR Blogger... look to Active Rain for your own referrals. Pay it forward!

Sunday Morning New Hampshire~#13~My Favorite Top Five Spots In Concord, New Hampshire

sun

  Sunday Morning on CBS is one of my favorite programs. They always have a series

                  of  interesting stories from around the US, people to see and places to go!

                        I hope to pass on a little of the same........

                                                                   NEW HAMPSHIRE SUNDAY MORNING

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
  Exploring this wonderful State of New Hampshire is something my husband and I never tire of! There are so many diverse attractions and ever-changing landscapes...the possibilities are endless!
Picking my five favorites places to see in Concord New Hampshire is a challenge.
 This community is historic, charming and culturally diverse. Concord has neighborhood schools, museums, medical facilities and a World Famous Law school. There are lakes, rivers and hiking trails in our back yard and we are within a two  hours drive of the ocean, the mountains and the City of Boston....Concord has it all!
The places I have chosen represent the diverse nature of my home town...some of the places that make it special!
View Larger Map
  1. Eagle Square
  2. Forest Society
  3. Sewalls Falls Recreation Area
  4. Mill Brook Gallery
  5. Dimond Hill Farm
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

1- EAGLE SQUARE -We will start our tour on Main Street in Concord at Eagle Square. Eagle Square is right across the street from the State House...just look for the Clock Tower clock tower that stands outside the entrance. entrance In addition to being the entrance to NHHS The NH Historical Society, the square has an area of stadium type seating and hosts many Summer concerts. There are two opportunity's for outdoor dining and a wonderful fountain  Fountain (which unfortunately not spouting when I was there!)

2- FOREST SOCIETY-After leaving Eagle Square, follow Main Street north to the intersection with Rt.393. Continue on 393 to Exit 2 (East Side Drive). Follow East Side Drive for about 3/4 mile to Portsmouth Street on left. After a short distance you will see The Forest Society on your left.sign The Society building is home to many traveling art exhibits and features classes and lectures mostly focusing on environmental subjects.building But....one of the most delightful aspects of the Society grounds can be reached from the Lower Parking Lot. An area of trail and paths that follow the Merrimack River.kite A popular area for walking your dog,trail enjoying a picnic or even flying a kite!

The view is Fantastic!! river

- 3- SEWALLS FALLS RECREATION AREA

sign Ater leaving The Forest Society continue down Portsmouth Street until it ends at  the intersection of 132 (Mountain Road)Follow Mountain Road past the Country Club and some of the most beautiful views in the City! After about 3 miles you will come to the intersection with Sewalls Falls Road on your left....go over the Iron Bridge (single lane please) bridge and the recreation area is on your left! The launching area is also a starting point for one of the many trails in the Concord Trail System. There are places toriver sit and fish or enjoy the view and secret sandy strips for swimming and wading.          beach

- 4 - MILL BROOK GALLERY

If you wish to head in another direction after leaving Eagle Square...perhaps for more artistic persuits....head South on Main Street to a right on Pleasant. Follow Pleasant St. or Hopkington Road (as it is sometimes called) past the Concord Hospital and St Pauls School. After a few more miles you will spot sign The Mill Brook Gallery. A fantastic treat for the eyes and one of my favorite places. A new exhibit started last week and I've yet to visit...here are some photos from last years trip! There is much to see...inside and out!

- 5- DIMOND HILL FARM

About 1/2 mile from Mill Brook is Dimond Hill Farm.sign Dimond Hill has been in the same housefamily for generations.view What I find so amazing about Dimond Hill is the fact that it is only 5 minutes from the center of Concord! As you come upon the farm...heading towards Concord the view would take your breath away! It is a working Farm with vegetables and a few animals. They also are open to the public and sell fruits, baked goods,cheeses and other specialties.

Barnstrawberries canned goods

The Farm will continue in perpituity because the people of the area  raised money for its preservation. A wonderful oasis within city limits.

A Flag In Every Classroom

                                                                flag

Shortly after the events of 9-11 a group of students from Hanover NH Middle and High School gathered around the outside flagpole to recite the Pledge of Allegiance.

Several of the students Mothers asked why the pledge wasn't  said in the classroom? They were told that several of the classrooms didn't have flags....They discovered that even though State law requires that every student be given the opportunuity to say the Pledge there were many schools that were witout flags!

Thus began Operation Old Glory...

The women embarked on a quest to put a flag in every NH classroom. They worked in tandem with the American Legions who have a mission mandate to supply flags to those who need. After only five years they have managed to place 4,000 flags in 500 schools!

The women are now talking about seting up a website to help other states get flags!

Another example of everyday people...getting things done!

Edit: Brian Shulman has written a "complimentary"Post with an explanation of the Pledge of Allegiance

Unity??~Really??

   hands     Once again New Hampshire is in the news! Unity New Hampshire, a small town in the western part of the state, is hosting two Big Name Democrats....Barak Obama and Hillary Clinton.

This is part of the on going effort to mend any rifts in the Democratic Party between those who supported Hillary and those who are Obama supporters. Interestingly enough the name of the town and the NH visibility are not the only reasons for choosing Unity....it would seem that in the recent election an equal number of votes (107) were cast for each candidate.

This fact, seems to me, makes Unity a very representative example of todays Party makeup!

NH Channel WMUR TV is live streaming the speeches for those of you who want to "be there"

Don't Despair~Do Credit Repair!!

hopefull Anyone who has sought a loan recently, whether it be for a home, car or new business etc., knows how important Credit Score has become. It is now, arguably, the primary indicator of whether you get your desired loan and how much you pay for it!

People's credit score are affected by many outside influences....job loss, unexpected emergencys, health care and prescription costs. Gasoline and heating/cooling costs can all affect ones ability to pay....a major factor influencing a Credit Score.

If your Credit Score is responsible for holding you back....here are some steps you can take to repair it. Repairs won't happen overnite and there's no easy fix...but it can be done!

#1- Pull your credit report and check it for accuracy. Everyone is entitled to one FREE! Any incorrect information needs to be corrected, in writing, with all three Reporting Agencys (Experian, Eqifax, TransUnion )

#2- Work out a Budget to pinpoint where your money is being spent and where you can cut back.

#3- Seek help from a Credit Counseling Service (in Concord- Consumer Credit Counseling Service) It should be:           meeting

  1. a non-profit, run by trustees
  2. certified counselors, not paid on a commission and licensed according to State Law
  3. shouldn't have to pay a large amount "upfront"
  4. size of debt shouldn't be a qualification

#4- Pay your bills on time. A consistant pattern of timely payments will repair your credit the fastest

Concord New Hampshire~Creative Concept

  Nonni's  I recently did a Post about the "New Kid In Town" Nonni's Italian Eatery! Well Nonni's is in the news again....

Located conveniently in The Holiday Inn, Nonni's is taking adventage of their downtown location to service their downtown lunchtime customers...while saving on gas!

From 11:30-2:30 Monday thru Friday, they will deliver Pizza...segway on a Segway! The Segway has been specially retrofitted to carry pizza and keep it hot. The delivery area is limited to include from the Holiday Inn to Pleasant Street and from Main Street 1 block East or West!

This is definately a case of creative advertising....I'm wondering how many others will follow suit?
